Introducing;
The Ocean’s Eyes
Pop-Punk with a fistful of passion.
In a world of manufactured music and television talent shows, it can sometimes be hard to come across a band who come together simply for the passion of the music. For those of you still looking for such a band, stop. We’ve found them. Hailing from London, The Ocean’s Eyes are a five piece pop punk band with something to say. ‘Mitch (vocals/guitar) and I got together in 2010’ explains vocalist Luke McInroy ‘We had previously come up with a few ideas and put them together to form songs.’ The Ocean’s Eyes is completed by fellow guitarist Nick Birss, bassist Charlie Robery and drummer Ben Smith. Despite only recently forming, The Ocean’s Eyes already have a pretty hefty list of live shows under their belts with venues such as The Camden Underworld, o2 Academy 2 and The Camden Barfly at the top of it.
With highly energetic EP ‘Lions’ recently released as well, The Oceans Eyes are well on their way to becoming more widely known. Looking towards the influences for the album, the boys have clear ideas. ‘I’ve always been really lyrically inspired by The Cure. Musically though, I think Taking Back Sunday’ says Mitch. Though the boys may be on cloud 9 right now, they definitely still have their feet on the ground. Having seen many bands on the same scene rise and fall quicker than you can say ‘pop-punk’, the boys are well aware of the longevity of their own band. Mitch comments ‘5 years is something a bit extreme to talk about for a band trying to progress in a industry that is dying. I’d say a year is more realistic to comment on, and I guess we’d like to be touring constantly and just getting our music out to fans’.
