It would seem that Pittsburgh’s Wiz Khalifa is at the top of his game recently, gracing the cover of Rolling Stone magazine and ruling our music channels and radio stations with his single ‘Black and Yellow’, all happening in time for the release of his new album ‘Rolling Papers’.
The album title itself illustrates that Wiz is staying true to his roots, rapping consistently about getting high and partying, though ‘Roll Up’ may come as a surprise when you actually listen to the lyrics. Songs such as ‘Hopes and Dreams’ and ‘The Race’ seem strong and very reminiscent of the old Wiz Khalifa. On the whole, ‘Rolling Papers’ offers a very laid back album, a perfect soundtrack for the summer.
Whilst new fans will welcome this album with open arms, I can’t help but to feel a little sorry for Wiz’s original fans as this album seems to be a far cry from his previous work.
