my names emily, i'm 20 years old and i like music.

Marc Saunders interview.

‘I don’t like this!’ he giggles as I rifle through my book in search of the first question. Despite stating this, he seems incredibly relaxed. At 19 years old, Marc Francis Phillip Saunders lives at his family home in Kent with his parents, driving in to university everyday to study Music Journalism. ‘I think my love for music started when I was child’ he tells ‘I began playing the piano when I was 5. My mum’s always been a big piano player.’ However, Marc’s taste in music couldn’t have changed more drastically since his childhood. ‘I’d like to say my favourite band is Alterbridge. They probably are, but it changes with the mood I’m in. Like when I’m driving, I listen to country music.’ He also plays bass for hardcore band Venesect. While on the subject of bands, Marc reveals a famous friend. ‘I suppose I don’t really know him, but if I ever see Herman Li (Dragonforce) around he always smiles and waves at me. Maybe we are friends. That’s cool!’ Marcs face suddenly transforms in to that of one which is deep in thought. ‘Thinking about it, I’d love to be famous. To be 30, grow a beard, wear sunglasses inside and drag myself into a pit of obsessions and addictions. Quote me on that.’ Not only does Marc have a passion for his music, he (surprisingly) also loves football. Playing for the UCA football team as goalie and also hitting the park with friends whenever he can helps to feed this appetite. ‘ It’s a great way to disconnect from life’s everyday goings on. The simple anticipation of looking forward to a game once a week is surprisingly exhilarating. The pints are a plus too’ With just a few minutes left and all questions answered, Marc decides to show me a secret talent. ‘I can turn my tongue right the way round.’
